The Puddle or the Pond
Beth Moore tells a story, during one of her Bible studies, about a time when she was out walking her dog. She said as they walked down the sidewalk, she noticed four ducks in a puddle. She said the funny thing about this picture was that right over the hill was a huge pond! Life can be so much like that, you know. We can sit in our own little puddle and be content while there is a pond just over the hill. God has so much He wants to give us if we just seek Him. And I don’t just mean “Knock, Knock; Who’s there” kind of seeking. I mean a whole-hearted desire-to-discover kind of seeking.

Hebrews 11:6 says:
“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

We must have faith in order to please God. Through faith, you truly believe God exists and then you seek Him. When you seek God this way I believe He will lead you out of your puddle and to the pond He wants you to have. Notice that “God rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

Sometimes life can get you down. Look Up! We all have puddles and ponds in our lives. God wants to give you everything He has, but you must seek Him. Focus on God not on what you can get from Him. Trust Him and His plan for your life! Don’t be content to stay in your puddle, step out in faith and your pond can become “Home, Sweet Home!”
